The Deep State: We Must Educate Ourselves

The biggest threat facing the nation today is not North Korea. It is not Russia – It is not an outside force. Know that Deep State concocts many of these boogeymen to suit its purposes, always keeping the American people afraid of some external threat when the real threat is within. Your goal is to stay as anonymous as possible and be ready for whatever comes up. Most likely, when the Deep State reveals its hand of cards, it will do so in the form of some local disaster on American soil where it can control the power in the midst of crisis.
—  Dean Miller ~ The Truth About The Secret “Shadow Government” Ruling America

Democracy – Your Vote Counts, Right?

Dean Miller's words about a ‘deep state’ or ‘shadow government’ are chilling. Could it be just another conspiracy theory? Maybe. However, that does not mean that it is not true. Let us start from the beginning. Most of us know the basic structure. An election is held every four years, and America shows up at the voting booth to choose a president. Similarly, every two years an election is held to vote on members of Congress, and every six years we vote to elect our senators. There are, of course there many other elections held for other seats in this country, both at the state and local level. We begin learning about this process as children and are taught to believe in our government. Most of us know this to be as true as the fact that the sun is going to set in the West at night and then rise in the East the next morning. Unfortunately, anything concerning our government is not that simple.

Wikipedia Has an Interesting Description of the Deep State

Wikipedia begins its description of what ‘Deep State’ means by defining specifically what it means in the U.S.

“In the United States, the term "deep state" is used within political science to describe influential decision-making bodies within government that are relatively permanent and whose policies and long-term plans are unaffected by changing administrations.”

It goes on to list some specific instances in which our current president has referred to the deep state.

“Donald Trump and Steve Bannon, his former chief strategist, have both made allegations about a deep state which they believe is interfering with the president's agenda. In 2018, describing the deep state as an "entrenched bureaucracy," Trump accused the United States Department of Justice "of being part of the 'deep state'" in a statement advocating the prosecution of Huma Abedin. Some Trump allies and right-wing media outlets have alleged that former President Barack Obama is coordinating a deep state resistance to Trump.”

According to Wikipedia, a poll in April 2017 found that approximately 48% of Americans believe that there is currently a ‘deep state’ operating within our government. Even those that did not recognize the term ‘deep state’ were familiar with the idea when it was presented as "a group of unelected government and military officials who secretly manipulate or direct national policy.”

The Rude Awakening

Many believe that there is a deep state operating in the higher echelon of the government. Those who believe this also believe that the deep state has been in existence for many years and that their goal is purely self-motivated and has nothing to do with the good of the people. It is said that one of the motivations of the Deep State revolves around money and self-indulgence to an unimaginable level.

Our country was built on the ideals of our founding fathers. They created the Federal Republic of States to represent each state and therefore the people. By design, the United States most powerful components are its citizens. Every vote should count. There should never be a question as to who Is calling the shots in Washington. If there is, in fact, a shadow government or ‘deep state’ operating it is a threat to our rights and everything that this country is supposed to be.

Is this theory of a ‘deep state’ true? The best way to find an answer to that is to educate yourself and form your own opinion. Research, read, ask questions; do not take your freedom for granted. Remember this is your country, the government answers to us! Stand strong, be heard and make sure you are aware of what your government is doing.

  1. Why the paranoia? It’s funny that the ultra right is quick to dismiss the theory that Russia hacked our election (despite every US intelligence arm confirming it) and then believes other BS theories like Obama being part of the deep state. While I’m at it, why does the religious right give Trump a pass on his disgusting, misogynistic treatment of women? Trump has in one year burned diplomatic bridges, FILLED the swamp with his billionaire buddies, has spent more time being educated from Fox & Friends than from his generals, and doesn’t even read his briefings. His accusations of fake news are really pathetic. Just because he doesn’t like it doesn’t make it fake. Sounds too much like Nixon. Trump blasted Obama for playing too much golf, and yet Trump has in the first 400 days played more than Obama did in 8 years. The hypocrisy is astonishing. I’m sick of it. Trump is a liability for the GOP. Grow a spine and take him on before he takes you out. He has hijacked the party and Ryan and McConnell have become puppets. This is the beginning of the end for Trump and his spineless lapdogs. Reclaim the party before you are so far right that you start endorsing hate groups and thinking its ok to grab women by their private parts.

    Signed,
a GOP voter about to leave the party
