LeBron James Says President Trump Is Dividing Sports

LeBron James Discusses Politics

LeBron James joined CNN host Don Lemon on Monday to discuss the current political climate in the country. During the sit down interview with Lemon, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar said President Donald Trump is using politics and athletics to divide the country.

"What I've noticed over the past few months (is) he's kinda used sports to kinda divide us, and that's something that I can't relate to," said James during the sit down interview with Lemon on CNN Tonight.

You can watch the interview in its entirety here.

The interview with Lemon encompassed a variety of topics including the national anthem protests and a new school James has opened in the Akron, Ohio area.

LeBron Criticizes President Trump

James criticized Trump for his politicizing of the Colin Kaepernick anthem protests and decisions by professional athletes such as Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry to boycott White House visits.

"I can't sit back and say nothing," said James.

James argued to CNN that Trump has distorted the intent of athletes who are taking part in peaceful displays of discourse. He feels Trump has used anthem protests to push the narrative of a failing American value system.

The Left Approves of LeBron’s Comments

The CNN discussion has been lauded by many on the left. Several leftist pundits on Twitter have expressed their satisfaction with the commentary provided by James. Here is a sampling of a couple of the tweets posted in James’ favor.
“Donald Trump isn’t fit to speak the name “LeBron James,” and it is telling that even he realizes it.” — thoughtful column from @JamilSmith on why Donald Trump has yet to respond to any of LeBron’s criticisms

LeBron James is right when he says Trump is using sports to divide us. And LeBron’s work broadening opportunities for kids & putting his money where his mouth is dwarfs anything Trump has done for America. So, to those who diss LeBron for voicing political views, I say: shut up.

.@KingJames has won 3 NBA Championships and opened a school for at risk kids. @realDonaldTrump has filed multiple bankruptcies and put thousands of children at risk. Today I’m with the King, not the clown who would be king.

However, CNN forgot to report one thing, James was a staunch supporter of Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election cycle. He joined Clinton on the stage for a rally right before the 2016 Presidential Election. The support by the then Cleveland Cavaliers star did not make the intended impact as Clinton lost Ohio to Trump during the 2016 election.

When asked whether or not he would be willing to sit down with Trump and discuss his political differences, James he would decline that opportunity.

Who is Truly Dividing Professional Sports?

The left continues to argue Trump is dividing the country with his rhetoric. However, it seems time and time again the left partakes in divisive behavior. The Kaepernick anthem protests began prior to the election of Trump.

The commentary provided by Trump denouncing the anthem protests happened a year after the initial Kaepernick action. Trump denounced the anthem protests during a September 2017 rally in Alabama. He was vocal in subsequent weeks on Twitter where he urged owners to take a stand against the players.

If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our Flag & Country, you will see change take place fast. Fire or suspend!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 24, 2017

The left likes to omit facts such as this. In many cases, Trump is reacting to the actions taken by those on the left. In actuality, it is the likes of James and Kaepernick who are sowing division among Americans.

This sentiment is supported by several conservative-leaning pundits on Twitter.

.@KingJames Lebron said @realDonaldTrump is using sports to divide this nation.

It wasn’t our President who kneeled during our national anthem or disrespected our flag. It was entitled athletes like Lebron promoting hate for a country that made him.

@POTUS stood up for the USA

I strongly believe that if LeBron James, Hollywood and others would simply pick up the phone and call @realDonaldTrump to request a meeting, he would not only take the meeting, he would listen.

Instead of calling him mean things, pick up the phone and request a meeting.

LeBron James — Trump Is Using Sports To Divide Us

Divide and conquer has always been the game plan of Democrats and the fruits are continuing to bloom under Trump, but he isn’t planting the trees or the shrubs that grew them.

It seems the ones doing the dividing are those who are closely associated with the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton. Both James and Curry supported the former Democratic candidate for President. The Rooney family who owns the Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as head coach Mike Tomlin, were both staunch Clinton supporters.

Is it a coincidence that those who have been the loudest in regards to Trump are staunch Clinton supporters? Decide for yourself!
