John McCain suspends medical treatment

Sen. John Mccain Has Decided to Suspend Brain Cancer Treatment

The decision to suspend treatment was announced Friday morning through a statement from the family.

“Last summer, Senator John McCain shared with Americans the news our family already knew: he had been diagnosed with an aggressive glioblastoma, and the prognosis was serious. In the year since John has surpassed expectations for his survival. But the progress of the disease and the inexorable advance of age render their verdict. With his usual strength of will, he has now chosen to discontinue medical treatment. Our family is immensely grateful for the support and kindness of all his caregivers over the last year, and for the continuing outpouring of concern and affection from John’s many friends and associates, and the many thousands of people who are keeping him in their prayers. God bless and thank you all.”

Peers of McCain Very Sympathetic

McCain has been a polarizing figure as he has been a vocal opponent of President Donald Trump. The reaction of Twitter Friday morning was sympathetic as many politicians from both sides of the aisle provided their prayers and condolences.

.@BretBaier: "If you think of any other figure in American history and political life who has spent his life serving the country, I don't think you can think of one who has served in as many ways as John McCain and to the extent that he's served." https://fxn.ws/2LoXe2R

Obvious, but worth repeating and thinking about: John McCain lived a hell of a life. War hero. Lifelong public servant. clashed with people in and out of his party, but certainly one of the most respected men in Washington.

God bless John McCain, his family, and all who love him — a brave man showing us once again what the words grace and grit really mean.

The ailing senator has not indicated if he will resign from his Senate seat. The other seat currently occupied by the departing Jeff Flake will be up for election this fall. Stay tuned to the New Right Network as this story continues to develop.
