Caging Twitter: CEO Jack Dorsey to Testify

Free Speech Is Under Attack

Over the course of the last few months, from Facebook working with Chinese companies to give them data access, to the banning of Alex Jones off a number of platforms where there seemed to be collusion between Apple, Facebook, Vimeo, Youtube, and Spotify, there is a growing disdain for Silicon Valley’s hypocrisy at silencing Conservative voices from their platforms. The reality remains: Half the population is not hearing the truth, is being blinded by a lack of information and is lacking their freedom to speak. Free-minded Americans would rather more ideas, more information, and more speech.

Facebook Errors

Facebook has been accused by many to be actively silencing conservative thought.  Facebook banned videos from conservative commentators Diamond and Silk who are two very boisterous, very fun, very informative, and very opinionated supporters of President Trump. They are active women who happen to be black.

Recently, Zuckerberg deemed PragerU with The Conservative Millennial Allie Stuckey hosting a five-minute video about the importance of good masculinity as “hate speech” and a “violation of community guidelines.” After mass public backlash, Facebook placed it back only a few days later calling it “a mistake” and apologizing for it.

YouTube Errors

YouTube has also been on the forefront of conservative silencing. Between their failed “ad-pocalypse” where they capitulated to advertisers pulling away from channels due to conflicting perspectives which resulted in lost revenue for content creators by also affecting the more favored channels of Sundar Pichai and Susan Wojcicki. Only to bring back advertisers which funded those less than desirable channels such as Sargon of Akkad, Louder with Crowder, and h3h3Productions.

In another erroneous decision, Youtube placed an “age restriction” optimizer on about 21 videos from PragerU. Anyone with an IQ level of 70 can see that these are some of the most benign, clean, well produced, nicely edited collection of videos that any elementary, middle and high school student can see. Unfortunately, they will not be able to see and discuss them due to the “age restriction.”

All Roads Lead Back to Twitter

While other platforms banned Alex Jones, Twitter remained careful regarding the purge issue saying that Jones and Infowars did not violate their “community guidelines” and thus allowed Jone’s to remain on Twitter.

A group of loud and flamboyantly boisterous protestors finally managed to twist Jack Dorsey’s arm enough to have him ban Jones for a week.

Rightly, this caused many to voice deep-seated concerns. Republican and conservative figures are frequently calling for Jack Dorsey to come out in a display of transparency and explain how Twitter’s algorithm works. He is appearing on Capitol Hill September 5, 2018 along with Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg and another representative from Google.
